Use of cameras and other electronic devices in Missouri courtrooms

The Missouri Supreme Court Operating Rule 16, requires all requests by the media to use media equipment in the courtroom shall be made in writing as soon as practicable after the judicial proceeding is scheduled but at least two business days in advance of the scheduled proceeding. Upon approval of the judge, cameras and other electronic devices are allowed in courtrooms in the 29th Judicial Circuit. The use of cell phones and computers in the courtroom by the media are not allowed unless a written request has been made and has been granted by the judge.

TO MAKE A REQUEST TO USE CAMERAS IN THE COURTROOM

Send an email to the Media Coordinator for Lawrence County at dwoodin@joplinglobe.com. The email must indicate the media outlet making the request, the case number, and party name. Once the Judge makes a decision regarding the use of cameras in the courtroom, the Media Coordinator will email the decision in the form of an order along with any special instructions.
